playing catch-up #101

I know, I know........I've been M.I.A. No excuses, except to say that there were about a thousand photos that I could have blogged today and I didn't know where to start. So, you can thank me for going m.i.a. b/c there is going to be some serious catch-up time this week.

So... in honour of National Scrapbook Day (Saturday) I rearranged my scrap space in my office this week {cuz it was getting outta control}, and I wanted my desk to face the backyard -- not the wall. I was supposed to take some family photos for a friend on Saturday, but it was raining all day. Headed west instead with a friend in search of greenhouses & vintage stores. Found greenhouses closed, vintage stores OPEN.....yeah!!!
Look at this awesome organizer I found at my fave store in the city. It's sitting on my desk and is already housing tons of embellishments. I want to add some labels or something to the front of it to make it easier to find what's in each container. I'll post the finished product in the future.
I had no newly created layouts to post for my official 101st Post {totally missed my POST #100 last week -- oops!!!}, so I created a few this past week.
These first few are using exclusively myStampBOX stamps. You'll have to go to their website and check out the whole DT to see them in my gallery over there.
Love the enlarged flower I made from ribbon & a few other products.
I heat embossed the row of farmhouses from the Neighborhood stamp set on this LO. Everything on this LO (except the stamps, of course) were scraps sitting on my desk and I just started adding it to the page. Quick layout to re-create in other patterns & colours.
Love the fact that I was able to journal right on my photo in this next LO and scratch journalling lines with my paper piercer.
I used a straight line stamp from the Just Add Words stamp set to make the "Xs" in this LO. I first stamped with coloured dye ink, then heat embossed with white overtop. Love the look of the stitching at the top and bottom of the LO as well.
These next few LOs are using other stamping & scrapbook products.
On this LO, I used a resist stamping technique. I first stamped with multiple colours of dye ink on white cardstock. I then heat embossed the same stamps with white embossing powder -- making sure to add lots of layering. Next, I took an Ocean dye ink and a cotton ball and wiped ink all over the LO. The ink didn't stick to the embossed images, so I was able to wipe off any ink on them with a clean cloth or Kleenex. The embossed imaged remained white and stood out off the page.

Here's a close-up of the technique.

Just some fun Christmas photos that were needing to be scrapped.

Another Christmas LO:
And look what I finally found..........
................there's some Dear Lizzy & American Craft products sitting on my desk just calling my name.
Stay tuned for more creations.

  1. Wow...what beautiful layouts. Love the journaling on the flower layout...love how it is off center.

Your Have Faith photo is perfect.

BTW...love your chandelier. My daughter wants one in her bedroom, a small one, but I have yet to find a good bargain. Got any ideas? I don't care if it is old, I plan on painting it black if it does not come that way.

  2. Thanks, Maryfrances, for all the love. :)
I got my chandelier at Home Depot {on sale, at the time}. Paid $80 for it -- and it's huge!!! Now, it's more expensive for the same one. I would scoop out some vintage stores or Re-Stores in your area or check out some auction/garage sales. Sometimes when people move into an older house, they tend to re-do all the lighting. Sometimes, if you let people know what you're looking for, they will hear it "on the street" and give you a call when they spot something. That's exactly how I got the barn door in my house that closes off my office. A little chit-chat on the street "jill's looking for a barn door?!?!?!" and, voila, I got one. Sweet!!!
    Hope this helps.
